Highlights From our Recent Trip.....
I just returned several days ago from a terrific trip with my family to the fantabulous city of San Francisco. What a whirlwind! We did and saw lots, while we traversed EVERYWHERE on foot (my spouse estimating we walked 18 to 20 miles over the course of our stay. And much of it uphill!). The weather was perfect, and we had a truly marvelous time. And naturally I took a ton of pics, many of which I aim to feature in several blog posts. Here are some trip highlights:
San Fran's Marina District:

NO visit to San Francisco would be complete without the requisite Golden Gate Bridge shots. |
|
More gratuitous Bayshore/Golden Gate goodness (For this trip, we did not go over the bridge into Marin County as we did the last time we were out there....but still, nice to admire the Bridge again from a distance)..... |
|
No swimmers, nor even surf frolickers on this beach -- Frisco Bay water is WAY too frigid for that (Plus note that the wee island in the distance to the right of center above is Alcatraz). We hung out at Marina Point for awhile, staring at the Bay and the boats and enjoying the warm sun (so unfortunately I did manage to get myself a good sunburn)..... |

Not far from the Bay in the Marina District, is this lovely and most picturesque park, and The Palace of Fine Arts. It's really beautiful. |
|
This photo gives some idea of the monumental scale (and though it's really difficult to tell from this pic, one sees at the very top of the Corinthian columns the backs of these lovely, toga-draped female figures, their arms outstretched)..... |

Soaring colonnade |

Sumptuous Rotunda |

The Rotunda Dome...... |

A family of swans swimming on the pond. |

And turtles too.....! |
